jake isaac - fool for you

London based singer-songwriter Jake Isaac merges a deep, soulful voice with vibes of folk and pop to create a fresh and unique sound that lends itself to the hype that the up-and-coming artist has recently received.

Following last year’s critically acclaimed War Child EP, Isaac released his fourth EP Where We Belong on Elton John’s label Rocket Records at the beginning of March this year. Among Isaac’s influences are 60s soul legends ‘The Temptations,’ whose influence can be heard in his music, but the addition of catchy percussion give the tracks a more dynamic feel and creates a modern-tinged soulful sound.

Beyond the instantly recognisable, warming tone of Isaac’s voice, his musical aptitude extends to his ability to play multiple instruments, which impressively allowed him to produce the stand-out track ‘Fool for You’ (as is displayed in the video for the single) without relying on others for instrumentation.

The individually simplistic components of this track: the constant hand-claps, the steady beating of the bass drum, and the catchy melodies gradually build up, coalescing to form an innovative, upbeat track which is likely to give Isaac the recognition he deserves. With a sound akin to that of Michael Kiwanuka, Jake Isaac is set to be an exciting addition to the emerging artists whose unique sounds are carving out a revival of soul music.
